Suresh Subramaniam
Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs
Suresh Subramaniam is Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs. He is also Professor and former Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has been with GW since receiving the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1997.
Dr. Subramaniam is a well-known researcher in the area of communication networks. He has published about 250 papers in prestigious journals and conferences, including several award-winning papers, and has published three books on optical networking. He has served in leadership roles for several top conferences and journals in his field.
He has received numerous awards and honors for his research. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics (IEEE) and a Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association. He received the 2017 SEAS Distinguished Researcher Award from GW. He was an IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Distinguished Lecturer during 2018-2021. He is the recipient of the 2022 ComSoc Optical Networking Technical Committee Outstanding Technical Achievement Award.
Autumn Anthony
Assistant Director of the Office of Graduate & Postdoctoral Affairs
Autumn earned her master’s degree in Middle East Studies from GW’s Elliott School of International Affairs and her bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Colorado Boulder, with minors in Political Science and Arabic. She speaks Spanish, French, and Arabic, and outside of work enjoys painting, ceramics, gardening, and exploring the outdoors.
Eliot Jobe
Supervisor of the Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships
Eliot works as the OGSAF Supervisor for the Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships, where he oversees graduate award programs and supervises staff within the office. Prior to joining GW, he was Program & Operations Manager for Georgia Tech's flagship Washington DC "study away" program, "GTDC: Pathways to Policy."
Eliot has a research background in political violence, social unrest, and human rights in the Global South, and a B.A. in Politics from UC Santa Cruz. A San Francisco Bay Area native, he grew up in the East Bay before moving to Washington, D.C.
Hillary Hughes
Program Associate
Hillary is the Program Associate for the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. In her role, she oversees the hiring process in PA7 and provides administrative support to campus administrators as well as postdocs. Additionally, Hillary serves as the primary event manager in OGPA for postdoctoral community events and professional development at the university, such as 3MT and Postdoc Appreciation Day.
She has previously worked in event management, successfully planning and executing numerous community engagement events and collaborating on private events hosted by community members and dignitaries such as the Qatar Ambassador and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Most recently, Hillary worked in non-profit administration for several organizations dedicated to violence intervention, racial justice, and supporting families of critically ill children.
A GW alumna, Hillary graduated with an MA in American History in 2017 and a bachelor's degree in History from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2012. She is originally from San Diego, CA. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting, thrifting, watering her ever-growing plant collection, and fostering kittens with help from her resident cats, Fava and Garbanzo.
Conner Zelmer
Program Associate
In his position as Program Associate, Conner Zelmer coordinates graduate award administration, advises graduate students about funding opportunities, manages Banner workflow as well as the faculty hire application processes.
Prior to joining GW, Conner worked in Virginia Tech University’s International Center. He was the recipient of the MEXT scholarship and was granted an M.A. in sociology from Keio University in Tokyo. He holds a B.A. in cultural anthropology from Ball State University.
Isabelle Giuttari
Program Associate
Isabelle works as a Program Associate for the Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships. She advises students students applying for the Boren and Fulbright US Student Program awards. Isabelle also assists with graduate awards administration and the Graduate Teaching Assistantship Program.
Isabelle completed her Master's in English from GW in 2024. She is from New England and prior to moving to D.C. for her M.A., she studied English and Theatre at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Emma Smith
Program Associate
Emma earned her B.A. in Cognitive & Behavioral Science from Washington & Lee University in Virginia. Her research focuses on social relationships, power and status, and the experiences of individuals with intersecting identities. Her work has explored how sexual identity influences perceptions of power and interpersonal dynamics. Emma is currently pursuing an M.A. in Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at GW.
