- Do postdoctoral scholars and postodoctoral associates receive holidays off?
Yes, both scholars and associates follow the University Holiday Schedules, and receive the listed holidays off.
Postdoctoral scholars and associates who work on an observed holiday will be paid as if the day were not a holiday and will be provided a substitute day off at a time to be mutually arranged between the employee and manager. A substitute day off must be taken within 60 days of the holiday or before the end of the fiscal year, whichever is earlier.
- Do postdoctoral scholars and postdoctoral associates have to turn in time cards, or track their time?
Yes, both postdoctoral scholars and associates use the University's Time Reporting System (TRS) to request and manage time off. Requests are subject to approval by the postdoc’s manager.

- Can postdoctoral scholars and postdoctoral associates serve as the Principal Invesigator (PI) or Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) on a grant?
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs currently does not have any policy preventing or expressly allowing postdoctoral scholars and associates from serving as PI or Co-PI on a grant.
If a Postdoc is interested in serving as a PI or Co-PI, they should consult their school's leadership.
- Can I hire a postdoctoral scholars and postdoctoral associates to work fully remote?
Yes, postdoctoral scholars and postdoctoral associates may be hired to work fully remote at the discretion of their PI. Any fully remote postdocs must live and work within the United States.
Hiring a fully remote postdoctoral scholar or postdoctoral associate to work fully remote from outside the United States, is possible. Please contact postdocsypport
